The Golden Globe Awards are one of the most prestigious honours of Hollywood films and television. The 79th Golden Globe Awards (2022) were presented in different categories at a simple ceremony amid strict COVID-19 restrictions on January 9, 2022 in Beverly Hills, California.

The Power Of The Dog won two major Golden Globes – Best Film (Drama) and Jane Campion won the Best Director. Will Smith got his first Golden Globe as he won the Best Film Actor (Drama) for King Richard. Nicole Kidman won her fifth Golden Globe for Best Film Actress (Drama) for Being The Ricardos. Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story won major awards – Best Film (Comedy /Musical), Best Film Actress (Comedy / Musical) for Rachel Zegler and Best Supporting Actress (Film) for Ariana DeBose. Andrew Garfield won Best Film Actor (Comedy/Musical) for tick, tick… BOOM! The films Belfast and The Power of the Dog were tied for the most nominations, at seven each.

In the TV category, Succession fetched three major Golden Globes – for Jeremy Strong and Sarah Snook who won Best Actor (Drama) and Best Supporting Actress. It also won the Best Drama Series.
